ARTISTIC DIRECTOR & CONDUCTOR

Maestro Jeffrey Sean Dokken

As featured in the “Best Of” issue of Virginia Living magazine, Maestro Jeffrey Sean Dokken is one of today’s most exciting and vibrant music directors and conductors. Over the past two decades, Dokken has performed throughout the U.S. in some of America’s greatest venues, including The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Strathmore Concert Hall, The Grand Opera House, Constitution Hall and many more. Internationally, he has performed in innumerable world-renowned venues throughout Europe, North America, and South America, such as Teatro Sanchez Aguilar, The Pedro Calmon Theater, Giovanni Battista Martini Hall, Teatro Centro Civico Eloy Alfaro, Pumapungo Theater, and Teatro Bolivar. Dokken has had the distinct honor of conducting at the White House in Washington, D.C. on several occasions.

In addition to his role as Music Director and Conductor of the Rome Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Dokken is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Guayaquil Philharmonic and the Music Director Emeritus of the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia. Dokken is also the Music Director for the NFL's Washington Commanders, bringing his penchant for innovative and high quality music, and his love of mashing up genres, to a very different stage. He is also the founding director of Encore Rocks, part of Encore Creativity, the nation’s largest choral music organization. Dokken recently made his debut with the Long Island Concert Orchestra and looks forward to upcoming engagements in Vienna, Austria, Brasilia, Brazil, and throughout the U.S.

Dokken has an active career as a guest conductor, and has been honored to lead many ensembles around the globe, including the National Symphony of Brazil, the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, the Loja Symphony Orchestra, the Senzaspine Symphony, and the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra. Dokken had the immense honor and pleasure of conducting the World Premier of the Philip Glass Flute Concerto with Orchestra Domenico Scarlatti in Florence, Italy.

He has composed for, conducted, consulted, and performed on a number of recordings, including the recent album of flute and orchestra music, “Celebration,” for Universal Music Group, featuring world renowned flutist James Strauss. A lover of all kinds of rock music, Dokken frequently lectures on the intersection of popular and classical music.
