YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION WINNERS 2021:

WINNER OF VOCAL DIVISION – HANNAH

Hannah Reich is a fourth-year undergraduate mezzo-soprano from Atlanta pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at Reinhardt University and studies with Dr. Rebecca Salter. This summer, Hannah performed Hansel in Hansel und Gretel under Maestro Gregory Buchalter at the Vienna Summer Music Festival.

She has performed a variety of roles with Reinhardt Opera Theatre. Hannah’s notable competition wins include 3rd place in the Southeastern Regional NATS Vocal Competition in 2021, and Finalist in the Atlanta Opera Guild Scholarship Competition in 2021. She has had the opportunity to further her education by attending The Vienna Summer Music Festival, The Atlantic Music Festival, Harrower Opera Workshop, and The Schmidt Vocal Institute.

WINNER OF INSTRUMENTAL DIVISION – LUCY

Lucy Rubin, from Highland Park, Illinois, is currently a third-year student studying music performance and music theory under Angela Jones-Reus at the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music. She is an active member of the University of Georgia Hodgson Wind Ensemble, and participates in numerous chamber ensembles.

During the last school year, Lucy was named an Honorable Mention in the Young Artist Woodwind Division of MTNA in Georgia, a winner in the Florida Flute Association’s Advanced Masterclass Competition, third prize in the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia’s Collegiate Artist Competition, and a conference recitalist for GMTA. This past summer, Lucy interned at the Flute Center of New York in Manhattan, New York, working under Julian Rose and Phil Unger.
